Dental School Frequently Asked Questions

What is your refund policy?

A student who cancels within 7 days of signing the enrollment agreement but before instruction begins receives all monies returned with the exception of the non-refundable registration fee which is $100.00.  You may cancel the enrollment contract by written or oral notice. The enrollment agreement is not binding until signed by the school director or designated school official.  An applicant who has not visited the school, toured the school facilities and inspected the equipment prior to signing the enrollment contract, has an additional three days to withdraw without penalty and request a full refund of any monies paid. Thereafter, a student will be liable for:

  • the cost of any textbooks or equipment accepted plus
  • Tuition liability as of the student’s last date of physical attendance.  Tuition liability is divided by the number of weeks in the program.  Total tuition liability is limited to the week during which the student withdrew or was terminated, and any previous weeks completed.
  • After the student enters school, he/she may voluntarily cancel or terminate by contacting the school.  Charges to students who terminate after entering school will be as follows:

Our course is 10 weeks, which makes up one quarter.

How much does the program cost?

The Dental Assistant I Program fee is $3550.00.

How do I pay for the class?

1. You can pay the balance in full, or in two (2) installments. The first installment is due before class to hold your seat and the other is due exactly halfway through class.

2. Option 2 is only if you have exhausted the first option. We are able to accept a minimum deposit of $500 for you to begin the class. You then must sign a "Pay as You Learn" Truth in Lending form which commits you to an agreed upon deposit amount and a continued payment every week thereafter, for a specified amount, to be paid off by your graduation date. (A larger deposit means your weekly payment will be lower) If you enroll in this program and you miss a payment, you will not be allowed entry back to class until your payment has been made.

3. If you are unemployed, you may be eligible to receive state funded assistance to attend this class. Please contact your local unemployment office in your county regarding the Workforce Investment Act and the Joblinks Program

What do I do if I don’t pass the final exam?

Most students pass if they follow all of our guidelines, but if you don’t, we allow each student one re-test in each course.  Please note that all re-tests must be completed no later than ninety days following the last class meeting.  If you are not able to pass the test within ninety days you can re-enroll for at a 50% reduced fee for a period up to six months following your first course.  After this six-month period, you are required to pay full tuition minus the cost of books unless the textbook has changed.

What is the Attendance Policy?

Students are expected to attend and be on time for all classes.  Tardiness is considered disrespectful to both classmates and instructors.  Students who have a pattern of tardiness will be advised and will be disciplined on an individual basis.

Students are required to complete all assignments regardless of class attendance, and are required to maintain, at minimum, an attendance average of 80%, for the total instructional hours enrolled from program inception to the point where progress in being measured.  Students, who miss more than 20% of the instructional hours, will be placed on attendance probation, and any further absenteeism may result in termination with appropriate pro-rated refunds.  A student who is absent more than 20% of the total contact hours in a program may automatically be terminated from the current class.  However, the student may, at the sole discretion of the Director, be allowed to pick up the course of study at the next session.  Tests missed because of absence must be made up upon the day the student returns to school, unless other arrangements have been made by the instructor and approved by the Director.

The school has no provision for excused absences.  Make-up work shall not be authorized for the purpose of removing an absence.  A student will be charged one hour of absence for each hour of tardiness or any part thereof.  The time elapsed during an authorized Leave of Absence is not considered as being “absent” for the purpose of the cumulative attendance average.  If a Leave of Absence is granted or if inclement weather forces the school to close, a student’s completion date will be extended to make up for clock hours missed.  Scheduled school holidays, summer and Christmas breaks, are not counted as absences.

What do I need to bring to my first class?

Don’t forget to bring pens, paper, a calculator and a highlighter.  Dress comfortably.  You may also want to bring a sweater in case the room is too cool for you.

What is the inclement weather policy?

Our inclement weather policy tends to follow the cancellation policy of the local community colleges.  For example, if Erie Community College is closed then we will be closed for our classes.  Weekend classes will receive instructions from their instructor. Students are also encouraged to call the school office at 888-968-4734.
